Loving skylines, shopping, eating or you just want to travel and escape from work? You are on the right page. Hongkong is known to have an iconic skyline and a shopping paradise. But there are more to that! So here are my top favorites to do in Hongkong.

1. Discover Tsim Sha Tsui

There are so much things to do in this urban area so I recommend to book a hotel around this location. The hotel where my hubby and I stayed at was just few minutes walk from the many attractions like Hongkong Space Museum, Hongkong Museum of History, Hongkong Cultural Centre, Clock Tower, Victoria Harbour and Avenue of Stars are on this area and a lot more to discover by your own. There are plenty of affordable restaurants to choose from so no need to worry about your food.

2. Go Shopping at Street Markets in Hongkong

You don’t want to splurge too much if you don’t want to end up spending all your pocket money for shopping so control yourself! If you love sneakers, Mongkok is the best place to go to as there’s a street which they call ”Sneaker Street” where you can find all your favorite brands of sneakers for a cheap prices. There are tons of shopping streets and a lot of food stalls too.

3. Ride the Peak Tram and Experience Victoria Peak

Don't miss to capture this view while riding on the tram. Travel Tip: Get a seat on the right side of the tram so you can catch this view.

Get your phone and cam ready as you don’t wanna miss to capture the breathtaking view! Are you planning to propose to your girlfriend, why not at the peak? I’ve heard it’s a bit popular place for proposal. The peak tram is one of the ways on how to get to Victoria Peak. Klook offers a variety of vouchers to choose from and we purchased a fast-track combo ticket that includes two-way ticket for Peak Tram and an entry to Sky Terrace 428. If you want to avoid the long queue, I’d definitely purchase vouchers to Klook because it has their own queue line. Just download Klook on your mobile or just simply visit their website to see more exciting activities and offers. If you are a budget traveler, I recommend to bring food along with you as the restaurants are a bit pricey.

4. Capture the Iconic Skyline at Sky Terrace 428

Breathtaking View from Sky Terrace 428

For me the best time to go up here is before sunset if you would like to catch the skyline both day and night. Capture the skyline for day photography and wait for a few more hours until dark and catch the city lights for night photography. My hubby and I decided not to wait for night time as we wanted to avoid the long queue at the tram. Klook offers express lane from tram going up to the peak only so please remember that there is only one lane when you go back.

5. Escape the City and Appreciate the Culture on Lantau Island

If you’d ask me, this is my top favorite and I suggest to never ever forget to include this in your itinerary. You need a whole day to enjoy exploring the island. You will ride a cable car at Ngong Ping 360 to get to Lantau Island. We purchased a two way ticket cable car at Klook. We choose one way crystal cabin and one way standard cabin to experience both! It’s worth the price as it would take you around 20 minutes (if my memory is correct) to enjoy the view from up above. I recommend to purchase tickets from Klook as it would really save you a lot of time! Klook has its own line at Ngong Ping 360. Just follow the klook stickers on the road.

In Lantau Island, they built villages on top of the mountains. And you will see here the famous Big Buddha and temples. If you want to escape the city, it’s really a must to go here! The scenic view is incredible. Felt I was in another part of the world. And don’t worry about your tummy again as there are many restaurants to choose from. There are some restaurants that offer affordable prices. But, if you want an expensive one, why not?

6. Peace your Mind at Nan Lian Garden

Of course, I’d never forget about this place! This is the most unforgettable part of my travel because this is where my husband proposed. But aside from that, it’s really a three thumbs up for me. We went here in the evening and it is so romantic, serene and peaceful. The warm lights surrounding the place and the sound of water makes you calm. It’s a very beautiful Chinese garden. I fell in love...

As we headed back to the nearest MTR Station, which is Diamond Hill Station, we discovered the Sushi Take-Out at Exit C2. This is a must try sushi and very affordable!

7. Buy your Pasalubong at Aji Ichiban

Of course, Filipinos love pasalubong and Aji Ichiban is the best place to go. They offer good deals when you buy more. Our first plan was to buy ref magnets or key chains, but the prices are expensive. I think the lady at Ladies Market overpriced us because they knew we’re tourists. And there was one lady who was a bit rude to us because we didn’t buy.

And how would I forget about the popular egg tarts! As we were not able to insert Macau in our itinerary, there is a popular restaurant located in Lock Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, called "Macau Restaurant" that sells yummy egg tarts.

8. Feel the Magic at Harry Potter Themed Cafe

If you are a fan of Harry Potter, I’m sure you’d totally love this cafe! Located at 404 Shop, Prosper Commercial Building, 9 Yin Chong Street, Mong Kok. Click here for direction.

Read my blog about this cafe. https://sheenabalenton.wixsite.com/sheenas/blog/harry-potter-themed-cafe-in-mong-kok-hongkong

9. Stroll at Flower Market Road

Make your travel a bit different and not the usual itinerary out there, why not stroll at Flower Market Road at Prince Edward District? And flowers are instagram worthy!

Across the road, my hubby and I discovered a flea market (which is called Fa Yuen Street Market) and the prices are so cheap! Sad we didn’t discover the place sooner. But, I am sharing this to you now, so you know where to shop your OOTDs! The perfect outfits are just right there at this flea market and they offer good deals. We even bought clothes for our furry baby, MinMin.

10. Catch the Symphony of Lights in Hongkong

Get your best seat to witness the symphony of lights in Hongkong, showcasing the vibrancy and glamorous night of the city. As we went there in the month of December, the theme of the lights were for Christmas. After watching the symphony of lights, head back to Clock Tower and Hongkong Cultural Centre to catch the spectacular multimedia light show.

Bonus thing to do

My hubby and I always go to grocery store every night before heading back to the hotel because we enjoyed discovering new foods to snack on. We tried different flavors of ice cream, chips and cookies that are not available in our country. I so love that blueberry ice cream coated with chocolate! OMG!

I hope you got some tips in this blog and start planning your Hongkong travel to enjoy this beautiful country 😊
